Norm and I were hunting for a cool, shady place to walk last night. We decided to stroll through the cemetery. It is peaceful plus I wanted to see all the flags on the soldiers graves. We were a couple days early – No flags. Having worked for the VA, there is a special place in my heart for our Veterans.
Yesterday morning I met with Mesa Christian Women’s Connection. Monthly we meet and pray for our country. We pray for those that are serving, and for the families waiting for their soldier to come home. We pray for our current and future President. We pray for women in our country that hold their family together. What a blessing to gather with friends and live in a Country where we feel safe praying.
A lot of special family and friends come to my mind this Memorial day that were in the military. My husband Norm, my brother Dennis, cousins Bill and Chuck Hardenburger and for the Kolb brothers, Jim, Jan, John, Kiah and Scott. I think of my nephew Adam and Norma’s husband Bob. My neighbor Skip and friends I worked with at the VA like Bob that served and sacrificed their health because of their service.
If I asked any of them if they regretted serving, most would say, “I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country.” I hope this Memorial Day all of you will join me in remembering your family and friends that served. Also pray for those serving now for good health and safety.
I wish we didn’t have to have war, because it seems detrimental to society. However, I understand, sometimes wars are inevitable.
Tonight, all of America will sleep better, because our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airman and the Coast Guard has our back.
My friend sent this beautiful tribute that touched my heart. Please click the link and prayerfully remember our soldiers.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in very way. The Lord be with all of you. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
