LESSONS LEARNED FROM CHOPPER
If the weather is a little chilly,
Don’t complain, just snuggle with the human you love,
Or put on your comfy jammies and stay indoors.
Never judge one by their outward appearance…
Like messy hair, crooked teeth, or the way they dress.
Maybe they had a tough day, maybe they can’t help it.
It is what you can’t see – what is in their heart- that matters.
Don’t clutter the house and waste money on unnecessary furniture,
Expensive gadgets and toys,
Look how much fun you can have playing with sticks –
or chasing or teasing your siblings!
Always alert those you love when danger is lurking –
When some stranger knocks on the door
Or an unknown person is seen walking down the street –
Or the man leaving an unidentified package by the front door.
When you make a foolish mistake – like jumping out the car window while driving down the street!
Immediately turn around and leap into the arms of the one that loves you –
He will be so happy you came back; he will forgive and embrace you.
And nurse your wounds while you heal.
Always show them your gift of hospitality,
Greet them when they return home,
Even if they were only gone ten minutes,
And when friends visit, make them feel welcome.
Never leave them alone in the house
Follow them from room to room,
Just in case they want to talk to you, or play ball
If they are sad, crawl in their lap and lick their tears.
You don’t have to always like everything your human does,
Sometimes they ignore you,
But keep on loving them unconditionally.
Doesn’t that remind you of our Heavenly Father.
Think about it. Dog spelt backwards is God!
He is always watching what we do –
Patiently waiting for the moment, we choose to spend time with Him
in conversation or prayer.
Willing to listen, to forgive, to embrace us, and forget our past.
Never judging us, just loving us unconditionally.
